Workshop
Join Michelle Salyers for a class on natural dyes and create your own set of naturally dyed mini skeins. Michelle will walk you through the process and talk about some of the differences and requirements of natural dying vs traditional dye methods. You’ll leave the workshop with a set of minis for your next fingering project.
Trunk Show (all day)
The trunk show begins at 11am (shop opens at 10am) and lasts through 4pm. You’ll have exclusive access to Color Me Happy yarn and kits only available online through the Color Me Happy website.

With over 30 participating local businesses, explore the diverse community of Milwaukee Ave between Kenzie and Central Park! Support your local small businesses and discover unique products and services while sampling a variety of lemonade refreshments. Each participating business will be offering their own unique twist on the classic summertime drink, whether it’s a tart and tangy traditional recipe, a sweet little snack, or a cocktail version. You’ll be able to pick up a map at Pixie And The Boy, Vintage Frills, or Sipping Turtle to see all who are included!
At 2pm, marching band, Environmental Encroachment will begin their musical parade up Milwaukee!

The Windy City LYS Trolley Tour is back for the Chicago Yarn Crawl! Visit four of the city shops while we drive you around on our trolley! This is an exclusive shopping event with Nina Chicago, Firefly Fiber Arts Studio, Knit 1, and Sister-Arts Studio!
Thursday, July 25, 3:00pm - 8:00pm
The tour starts at Nina Chicago where you'll park your car and head into the shop. You'll be greeted by your guide and have 1 hour to shop, all while enjoying treats and beverages. Then, you'll hop on our trolley to continue the tour to the next LYS! En route, knit, crochet, relax, and enjoy the tour as we guide you to each shop, sharing the unique characteristics they bring to the Chicago fiber community. After visiting each shop, the trolley will drop you back off at Nina Chicago.
Tickets Cost: $65/per person
Your ticket includes:
• Transportation to 4 local yarn shops
• 1 hour of shopping time at each shop
• 10% off your yarn purchases at each shop
• A unique selection of food and beverages at each shop
The Trolley Tour will begin and return to Nina Chicago, 1256 W Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL 60642. Street parking is available around the shop. Please arrive at 3:00pm to enjoy the full 1 hour of shopping before you board the trolley for the next shop. Windy City LYS Tour will not be liable for any missed trolley departures. Then, grab a seat and stick around for an evening of crafting and socializing. Bring a knitting or crochet project to work on. Weather permitting, we will gather outdoors on the sidewalk. We’ll provide seating and light snacks. BYOB. The store will remain open for shopping for the duration of our Stitch Night.

Join us for Notions Night at The Bloomin' Spindle! We'll be crafting beaded stitch markers, enjoying snacks, listening to tunes, and customizing garment tags! Lisa from @hold_on_knits will be bringing her engraving machine so that you can have a garment tag personalized. In this workshop, we'll explore techniques to create textured, eye-catching cuffs for mittens (or fingerless mitts). We'll learn to knit fringe, Latvian braids, knitting with beads, and to pick up stitches to knit a lining for your mitten.

Willa will guide you through how to use the drum carder, and how to get the color placement, the blending, and the textures you want to see in your squishy, lofty fiber. Orchid Show of Wonders is the newest Sister-Arts Studio collection, designed by Donna and hand-dyed on luxury bases by Trilogy Yarns. These five new colors will debut on Saturday, July 20th, just in time for the Chicago Yarn Crawl. Each color will be available on two beautiful bases.

The Orchid Show of Wonders yarn collection was inspired by the Orchid Show of Wonders exhibit at Chicago Botanic Gardens (winter of 2024).
Orchids are some of my favorite flowers, their abundant color varieties and unique floral shapes resemble birds in flight, butterflies, and exotic insects like the praying mantis.
